So many people have those messy eating kid photos which is what was inspired me to create this kit originally in 2006, more specifically the photo in the layout below. My darling daughter hamming it up while she was eating her 'Spag Bog'. She used to make this adorable funny face which always immediately cracked me up and so of course she kept doing it and it became her little party trick whenever her grandparents came over. It is hard to believe how much she has grown since she is now 8!! Well the Beans and Spaghetti kit and the Alpha has been in retirement for a while, but I have revamped the entire kit, changing up a few things and making them better. It was one of my most popular kits and I had a few people asking for it, so I decided to re-release it.

I have released the kits as separates as well as a value collection, so you can buy them all in one and save, or just buy the pieces you need.
First we have the Beans and Spaghetti Page Kit, now available in store at Digital Scrapbook Place.

I have made a bunch of extra backgrounds as a Beans and Spaghetti Back Pack to go with the kit, all of these are not just revamped but entirely new. What I love about these backgrounds is that not only do they coordinate with the kit, they are versatile on their own for other projects or layouts as well.

And then we have the Alphaghetti and Sauce Alpha Set. Perfect for those fun food layouts! Allphaghetti has also been entirely redone.

Want to buy the whole lot and save? Why not get the Beans and Spaghetti Value Collection, the whole collection at a reduced price. Not only will you have a great collection to scrap your fun food layouts, but this collection is also great for recipe cards, cooking layouts and the pieces are versatile for BBQ's and dinners too!

Now, just to wet your taste buds, I have made up a little freebie for you with the Beans and Spaghetti Value Collection.
Just click on the preview below to download this 6×4 Sized Recipe card, perfect for displaying your favourite recipe as part of a card collection. Included is a space to put a photo or even the ingredients list. Just plop your recipe in, a title and photo and you are done! Enjoy!

Each month at DSP I hold a Graphically Challenged Challenge! It is a great way to get those creative juices flowing to make graphic style or blendy layouts. I have always loved doing 'blendy' layouts and there are several Tutorials at DSP to help you out. Here is one I wrote on using Blend modes in Photoshop. Here are some tutorials on doing graphic style layouts for various different programs. Completing Your First Graphic-Style Page [PS] [PSP] [PSP12] [DIP]
If you want to give graphic style layouts ago, these tutorials are a great place to start. Experimenting with blend modes can bring an extra dimension to your digital scrapbook layouts.
For the monthly Graphically Challenged I usually post an inspiration piece or tutorial to get you started on the challenge. For November the challenge is to incorporate hearts into your layout.
How gorgeous is this inspiration??? I love it's grungy goodness!

This is my take on this months inspiration and topic. Not quite the bokeh effect shown on the inspiration piece but I loved the idea of blended hearts of the layout.

I used a background paper from my Citrus Funk Page Kit and hearts from my Mocha Dreams Page kit, but used lots of blend modes so they don't quite look like they do in the kits!
Like the idea of blendy style or graphic layouts? Check out the November Graphically Challenged at DSP!

I had lots of fun doing the Digital Scrapbook Day Speed Scrap marathon today. I managed to do three layouts which is more than I normally do in a week, actually 2 weeks!!! I really need to do more speed scraps, it is such a great way to get some layouts done! Anyway, I thought I would share what I got done with you.
The first layout I did used this as the inspiration piece, so my layout was a loosely used inspiration for this one. I used my Tweet Chic Value Collection to make the layout with. I think it took around 38 minutes all up.

The next one I did was for my scheduled speed scrap. I had already chosen the inspiration piece and had an idea of what photo I wanted to use once I chose the inspiration so it was easier for me to do it quickly. I find that finding the photos is the most time consuming part, especially when you have thousands and thousands of them on your hard drive. I have started tagging the photos I want to scrap so they are easier to find when I need them.
This is the inspiration piece I chose, I loved the word art and loved how it formed a 'line' down the middle, although I did adjust the idea for my own layout. After choosing the piece I remembered this photo of my son being a frog and thought of the Galoomp song, what better words to use for the word art?

I had a lot of fun doing this layout and have had the song in my head all day!! I used one of the papers from my Monodrama Value Collection and changed the blend mode on the photo to bring the texture through from the background underneath. I also used some grunge brushes to soften the edge of the photo under the word art and the clone tool to add some remnants of the concrete print under it as well where the photo ended.
I did this one in 27minutes! I guess it helps to know the inspiration ahead of time so you can plan the photo you want to use.
For the next scheduled speedscrap I did this was the inspiration. I found this one tough to think of something at first, but had a browse through my photos to scrap and found some I wanted to use. Another loose use of the inspiration, but hey that is the way I roll. he he! I once again used my Monodrama Value Collection. I keep coming back to this kit so I think it would have to be my all time favourite kit to scrap with!

If you have never tried a speed scrap, I totally recommend it to get those creative juices going, we have them regularly at DSP and I plan on making more of an effort to join in on them! They are on Tuesday nights at 9pm US EST.

This is my adorable 3 year old niece being silly at the park. I had so much fun doing a similar layout of my daughter that I just had to do another page packed with flowers.
I created this page with my Doodle Daisies (some recoloured), Arty Farty Frames (recoloured), some leaves from my Tweet Chic Value Collection and the background is from my Watercolor Fun and Frolic Value Collection.

This is our cheeky little man playing at the park. He quite enjoyed crawling in and out of this train. This layout was done with my Monodrama Value Collection and Whimsical Words from DSP's October Club Digital. I did add a white stroke on 'world of' to make it stand out a bit from the background. The rest of the word art and kit items are as provided in the kit.

I took some photos of our kids at the park in July and have finally gotten around to processing them! I am so happy with how they turned out and I am going to scrap a few of them.
This is our daughter on the slide, she takes such a good photo, she Takes My Breath Away!

To see the image up close just click on it and it should enlarge for you.
I used a few different kits to do this one. The background, bottom border and frame was from my Watercolor Fun and Frolic Value Collection. The flowers are from my Choc Watermelon kits and the Fabbo Funky Flowers freebie available at dsp from the gallery. You need to be a member (FREE) to be able to access the freebies. Oh and I used my Faux Lomo Action from my Foto Action Pack Vol 1 on the photo. It gave it some extra pop!

Dean and I have been married for 16 years today! I did this layout as a card for him to wish him a happy anniversary. I made the card with my Romantic Love Value Collection, Arty Farty Frames and Vintage Vibe Alpha all available exclusively at DSP. Yup, this is us on our wedding day. Amazing how dated that dress looks now, but I guess it has been 16 years!

Dean did his first Half Marathon last weekend which I thought was pretty impressive! I have done a layout with pics of him crossing the finish line. Poor fella was absolutely knackered, but hammed it up for the finish.

Here is one of me. I had an interview with SBE as I am designer of the month this month there. (25% off selected products!) They asked for a layout of me and I hadn’t done one for a while, so here is my latest about me layout.

Both of these layouts were done with Funkified, now available at DigiscrapArt.com

On the health front, I had an appointment with a rheumatologist earlier this month. He doesn’t think it is lupus as he said I don’t have enough of the symptoms, however at this stage he thinks the most likely diagnosis is Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, which is another auto-immune disorder, not necessarily much better. (Lupus is a connective tissue disease) I have to have a bunch more blood tests done, many of which I haven’t had done before and see him again in 6wks so STILL no answers which I find very frustrating!
Mixed connective tissue disease from what i have read is an auto-immune disorder with a combination of symptoms from various connective tissue diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritus, scleroderma and polymoysitis. Apparently it can develop into one or more of the other connective tissue diseases later on in the progression of the disease.
Anyway, there are a huge number of blood tests I have to have done so hopefully I will have a more firm diagnosis in 6wks time. At least we are getting closer to finding out what is wrong. I have been a fair bit better the last few days, so I am waiting till I have another flare before I have the blood tests done.
