I am slack!

I keep meaning to update my blog more but with facebook updates doing the job, I just don't seem to blog as much. It is so much easier to just update on facebook I guess.

We have a new addition in the household and her name is Coco, she is 9wks old and pretty cute. She will be getting a little friend in a few weeks when she is old enough to be away from her Mum. Her little friends name is Pepper.

Polly is rather enamoured with her, either that or thinks she would be fun to 'play' with or maybe eat… She spends a lot of time watching Coco in her cage!

We have an outdoor hutch for them which they will both go in once Pepper arrives here. They will then mostly only come in for a cuddle or when it is cold.

I have been having fun doing some photos with my hipstamatic app for my iphone. it creates some fun effects!

I love playing around with all the different lenses and effects. It's lots of fun!

Kaboodle Wish Lists

I have joined the Kaboodle craze to keep track of wishes and also a list of my designs.

It took me a while to ‘get’ what was so great about Kaboodle but I am getting the hang of it now and quite like it!

It is a great way to keep track of the things that the kids want/like so that we and family can remember what they might like as gifts.

So anyway, in case anyone in our families are looking for Xmas or Birthday gift Idea’s, check out my Kaboodle lists for ideas. I haven’t started one for Dean yet.. next time he mentions something he wants I will start a list for him as I can never think of ANYTHING to buy him myself let alone anyone else!

I am going to stick a link on my blog links list as well.

20/20 Vision Yay!

Ok, so at least one part of me is perfect. he he

One of the girls at work was incredulous that I didn’t need glasses especially given that I work on computers all day, and we did a little test to see how my vision compared to hers wearing her contacts.  My vision seemed to equal hers at a distance and we stepped closer to an item that had small writing on it and I was JUST able to make out a word, she said she could make it out clearly, so I thought.. hmm maybe I need to get my eyes tested after all! I have never noticed any problems but I hadn’t had them tested in 12 years or so so I thought it was about time I had them tested anyway.

Anyway, I had them tested and according to our optometrist (who happens to be a good friend of Dean’s) I have a rare condition of perfect eyesight! He couldn’t even squeeze a tiny perscription in with both of my eyes being 0. Hopefully I have passed those ‘perfect genes’ onto my kids and not all the less than perfect stuff! He he

My New Life as a Coeliac

Well I have had the diagnosis of Coeliac’s getting onto about 8wks now I think.

After starting the Gluten Free diet, which I must say is rather trying!, I had some dramatic improvement within a few days.. and was starting to feel gradually better and better. It was such a relief to actually have a bit more energy to do things again.. I couldn’t wait to feel entirely normal again!

I still have sooo much to learn about what I can and can’t eat, but I have been making plenty of my own bread in the breadmaker. My favourite so far is my fruit loaf. It is still nowhere as good as the Wheat variety but it taste’s pretty close as long as I make sure it is hot the entire way through when I toast it. So far the home made bread is not that nice when it has not been heated. Having said that it is a darn sight better than the bread I have bought to date!

For someone who likes to go with the flow, I am also finding it rather trying having to ask things to be cooked seperately or with gluten free ingredients. I am soo over having to ask for my meat to be cooked on foil, asking restaurants if they can cook my meal seperately and without sauces and having to stand there and watch everyone eat treats at Birthday Morning Tea’s or other special occasions or Pizza at staff training while I sit there and munch on my corn crackers with cheese and tomato. Even when they especially get me gluten free dip and rice crackers, I can only have one dip before everyone has dipped in the wheat crackers and left crumbs in it. It is so sweet of them to think of me, I haven’t the heart to tell them that they probably needn’t have bothered unless they ONLY buy gluten free dipping crackers.

I am over people rolling their eyes and gritting their teeth.. you know they think I am being overly paranoid and over the top. Even those close to me do it.. What can you do? Only I know how totally horrible I had been feeling and how I never want to feel that way again. People don’t understand how serious the disease is and how real it is that the effect of just a teeny piece of gluten can cause is not just the immediate short term effects it also poses major long term health risks such as osteoperosis and cancer. Not to mention immediate health issues such as high cholesterol, debilitating anemia, aching bones, joints and stiffness, bloating, insomnia, restless legs syndrome and the list goes on.

Food simply does not hold the same interest it did before…it has become rather boring. That may change as I learn more.. but for now.. it remains boring. Thank goodness I can still have some chocolate or I would have lost it by now! Thank you Cadbury for GF Fruit and Nut!

Life as a Coeliac certainly isn’t easy. Having said all that.. if it means I will be healthy, it will be worth it. The trouble is..the past two weeks or so I have gone backwards again. I cannot pinpoint why. I believe I may have had some cross contamination issues over easter, and it is possible that the easter eggs I ate that I thought were gluten free in fact weren’t. I have been very vigilant since so SURELY I should be feeling better by now.

Instead I feel almost as bad as I did just before I was diagnosed.. which was at a point where I was that tired I was constantly at the brink of tears.. and only getting to mid morning before struggling to stay awake.. aching joints, sore and stiff spine… I am not QUITE that bad now, but pretty darn close. It is sooo frustrating! I am tring so hard to eat the way I need to.. and I still feel sick.

On the bright side..I have discovered someone I know has Coeliac’s. The mother of Jasmine’s best friends. (twins) She has known about hers for 2yrs so is a fair way ahead of what I am. She has gotten to the point where she feels normal again and has also been off the rails. It will be good to be able to talk to someone locally who knows the places to source gluten free food etc.. and be able to talk to her about it in general.

She tells me it is extremely important the remain vigilant for the first 6mths while I am healing so that I can feel healthy again. I guess I don’t have as far backwards to go if I eat gluten. Something I am learning at this very moment!

I just can’t wait till I am healed so that I can feel like I can fully participate in life again. I am soo sick of being an observer, not having the energy to join in. Sick of looking at mess but not feeling like I have the energy to do anything about it. Sick of feeling too tired to play with the kids! I guess it is lucky I have a desk job or we would be in real trouble!

Anyway.. while I am still tired and sore, I am feeling less bloated today again so fingers crossed I am once again on the mend! I am looking forward to feeling like I am a 30-something year old instead of 65! I am not quite ready to retire just yet!

Ok, yes a totally self indulgent rant… I am impressed you made it this far..guess I just needed to get it out. Thanks for listening. :-)

We all need a laugh!

Yes, it has been ages since I have posted… where does the time go!

I got sent this at work and just had to share! Had me in stitches! 😉

What did you get for Christmas?

I did really well this Christmas and felt like sharing!

I wanted a pretty pink new phone for Christmas and Santa was very nice to me. Now I won’t have to be embarrassed when I get my daggy old phone out in front of people. He he. It is a fairly basic phone but the most important thing is that it is PINK and that it is a flip phone. ROFL

I also got a pretty PINK labelmaker.. I have gotten sick of shelling out hundreds of dollars on custom name stickers for the kids kindy stuff. I was concerned that the labels wouldn’t be dishwasher safe but I am told that they last very well, and they also do iron on name tags, which is even better! It was bearable to spend the money on the labels before we had Kyan but paying the money for two kids makes it that much more expensive, so I decided a labelmaker was the way to go!  I must have been very good this year since santa brought me such a cool toy! Either that or he thinks I spend too much money! He he

I also got this very cool signed copy of this Chris Isaac CD! How cool that santa got it personally signed for me! Don’t you love the halo! ROFL

I was also given a VERY cool Robbie Williams Concert DVD.

The concert is fabulous! (some consolation for the fact I never made the concert here in Australia. :-( ) I can’t wait to watch the documentary dvd that comes with it when I finally get a chance!

I also got a clothing voucher which is great. .I really needed some more work clothes and have already bought some blouses with it!

I did get a few more things but all in all Santa has been VERY good to me! 😉 Thank you SANTA you know who you are.. have to be careful you know.. I have kids around me. 😉

Feeling Better and I’ve been tagged…

After my last depressing post I am back to my glass half full self thank goodness. I hate feeling that way, it is so not me, but I guess everyone is down in the dumps now and again. Life goes on, and now we have to look at which direction we are going to go next… I hate not knowing.. I like to know what I am aiming for, I am so impatient when it comes to making decisions as I like to know which direction I am heading.. but this is not an easy decision to make, so we need to take our time to absorb all the choices we have to make the best one.

I have thought of some more words that Kyan can say.. so I will write them down now while I remember! He can say Baby, Puppy, Water (which can be either milk or water or both.. it is all the same to him.. LOL), Hopup, Door, Baa (Bath).

I took him to the daycare centre where Jaz used to go twice this week to get him used to it. We are going to start him off one day a week as that is all they have a vacancy for, for now. I was a bit hesitant about sending him there because it really went downhill the last 6mths she was there, but they have been taken over by ABC and there are a lot of big changes happening over there.

They are getting lots more toys and there is a new director. Kyan has enjoyed playing with the other kids over there and settles much better than Jasmine did. He is a lot more adventurous than she was. She was always quite shy and took a while to come out of her shell. I have a feeling he will adjust much better than she did.

I have been blog tagged by Kirsty CD’s new team coordinator, as well as Debbie one of our store designers! so I had better do my bit.. 😉

Happy Easter!

Jasmine painted some beautiful Easter Eggs Yesterday! 😉 She had a wonderful time painting them and I thought they were so gorgeous I just HAD to share! 😉

She was sooooo excited this morning when she woke to find that the Easter Bunny had been and left some little eggs and bunnies and pieces of carrot, complete with bites taken out of them in her room. (we left out carrot and water for him) She was soo excited to tell us all about it that she could barely spit out what she was trying to say. Then it didn’t take long before she was off and searching for the rest of her booty!

Kyan was not to phased by it all and was quite happy to watch Jasmine scurry around! We managed to find him some Dairy Free eggs so that he didn’t have to miss out on Chocolate, but he was not remotely interested in the chocolate but did quite like the pretty shiny paper! LOL All he wanted to do was unwrap the eggs and throw them around like they were little balls. (he loves throwing balls and anything else for that matter!) Anyway, I had a taste of one of his eggs and OMG they are quite yummy, and the best part is I could eat them without worrying about if it will upset his tummy.. I will try and hold out and let him get used to the idea of eating them but if he continues to refuse them I think I will claim them. 😉

A Happy Easter to you and yours!

I hope the Easter Bunny treated you all well! 😉

A Layout at last! – Jed

My brain is totally fried at the moment.. have been working on a kit but have lost all inspiration due to lack of sleep.. so rather than work on something that just isn’t happening I decided to do a layout for a change for a bit of relaxation! My oldest friend from High School sent me a photo of her first born Son Jed.

He is just the most adorable little man with a little cupids bow mouth. I suspect he will be a little heartbreaker when he grows up! Anyway, I couldn’t resist doing a layout with this adorable photo, so here it is! I did it with my Cheeky Monkey kit and Grunge Rust Metal Alpha’s.

Welcome to my NEW blog!

Hi everyone!

I decided to move my blog from blogger, since I had a spare domain handy and I was wanting something a bit more versatile than blogger. So, if this is your first time to my all NEW blog! Please update your bookmarks/favourites!

How do you like the new look? I think it is a bit prettier than the old one! 😉 YEAH!

About Me!

Who am I? I am Robyn (aka clikchic). I have a wonderful hubby and two darling children. I am a stay at home mum, digiscrapping website owner, accounts manager for our upholstery business and the list goes on! LOL

I am a hobbyist photographer and digiscrapping addict. I love doing layouts, designing kits and pretty much anything to do with photography and digital scrapbooking. I use Photoshop for my designs and LOVE it! It is so versatile and I am constantly learning new things on it.

My puta and camera are my two most prized material possessions. I have a Canon EOS (Rebel) 300D and hopefully would like to get a higher model, but for now it will have to do me. 😉 I am itching to get a laptop so I can access my website etc away from home.. will have to save my pennies! 😉

Most of my posts will be about digital scrapbooking and our children. I have a lot of family in Europe so this is a great way to keep them up to date on happenings in our household.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to see you round here again soon! :-)

WHY must they….

Continuously play that horrible horrible ad on tv of the car accident where the baby gets hit by a car. I HATE that ad with a passion. The first time I saw it I felt physically ill. Now whenever it comes on we try to change the channel so we don’t have to watch it. If I am not near the remote I cover my hears and shut my eyes till it is over.

I quite honestly find that ad traumatic to watch.. is there REALLY a need to show all the terror, blood and gore of such a horrifying accident in such graphic detail?? I think not. I am sorry but I think in this case their shock tactics have gone WAY to far. I wish they would get rid of it. It has been playing for a while now and I have soooo had enough of it.

Ok, there is my rant for the day.. I really must ring the stations that show it and complain..(just another thing to add to my list of things I have to do!) Ok, that is my rant for the day!

Good Article on PCOS

I haven’t been involved in PCOS support for a while now, since the kids came along I don’t have as much time to devote to it. My priorities have now changed from conceiving being my primary focus. I always said that once I had my family I would get started on improving my lifestyle so that health played a much more important focus for me. While we were trying to conceive I just didn’t feel I could focus on both infertility and weightloss.

I have always made some kind of effort to try and eat healthy, although this has somewhat fallen by the wayside with the Chaos of having two kids! However, now that Kyan is getting close to weaning, the time is coming that I need to start getting serious about eating low GI, getting back on Metformin (in the hopes of preventing diabetes) and hopefully loosing some weight.

Weaning Kyan is proving to be a challenge. He cannot have cows milk as he is milk protien intolerant. He has soy in his cereal and his custard, but will not drink it. (don’t blame him!) I have been told you can get soy yogurt so we will have to look out for it next time we do shopping. I had gotten Kyan down to two breastfeeds a day, and then he developed gastro so I had to increase his feeds again to keep his fluids up and as he wasn’t up to eating/drinking much but tolerated his breastfeeds really well.

I have only just got him back on fruit again which is still giving him a little bit of diarreah. My next step is to try goats milk. I gave him a little yesterday and he didn’t think too much of it, but on the bright side, he didn’t get any adverse reaction to it. Given his severe reaction to pizza crust that had dairy in it, I think that was a good sign! If he won’t take goats milk I am not sure what we will do. At the moment the only drink he will drink is water. Anyway, I will keep trying the goats milk and see how he goes, hopefully he will develop a liking for it. Jasmine had no interest in forumula until she completely weaned, so maybe Kyan will be the same with milk.

Anyway, I digress! Once I have weaned Kyan I am going to concentrate more on loosing weight. With Jasmine I lost all my pregnancy weight without even trying by the time she was 8wks old, but 12mths on after Kyan and my pregnancy weight is still hanging around. So, it is time to get serious!

While I am no longer active in PCOS support groups online and in real life, I am still a member of POSAA. I am pleased to see they are still up and running. It is great to see! For a while there it looked as if they wouldn’t continue. What got me started rambling about PCOS? I got sent a link to a PCOS article by one of the committee members of POSAA. Great article! Thanks for sharing Shayne! 😉 It has reminded me I need to get stuck into doing something about it again.. I have been pretending I don’t have it for a while there! LOL I could certainly use some relief from my constant lethargy. Hopefully loosing some weight and getting started back on Metformin will help me out there. As soon as I have weaned Kyan I will go to my gp and get a full health workup done, and then get stuck into it. I think it is probably about time I had another GTT done as well. It will be interesting to see how my insulin resistance has held out since I was last tested!

Anyway, enough rambling from me! 😉

Why have I got a photo of Fritessause?? Because I am a lunatic! Ha ha!

I am known to put whole egg mayonaise on my chips because I LOVE it. But what I love more, but have not been able to have since I spent a year in Holland was Fritessaus! It is kinda like mayonaise but not really, and it has been sooo long since I had it that I forgot what it tasted like. It does have a mayonaise base but doesn’t really taste like mayonaise.

Anyway, the dutch are known for putting ‘mayonaise’ or rather Fritessause on thier chips and this is something I have also been known to do… or on potatoes, or mash potatoes. MMMMMMM

Ok, back to why the photo of the bottle of Fritessause! I did some grocery shopping the other night. Dean normally does it but thanks to his sore mouth he wasn’t feeling up to it, and anyway, I checked out the dutch section as I love to do because our supermarket never used to have one and I love buying the dutch goodies there.

I was sooo excited to see that the dutch section had expanded and there were even more yummy goodies there and lo and behold… jump up and down for joy there was Fritessause. I got all excited right there in the supermarket aisle and I am sure the guy who was walking past thought I was a nutter! ROFL!

I came home and showed it to Dean who of course wouldn’t even taste it but managed a happy dance at home as well! Ha ha!

Hmmm might have to have some oven fries for lunch today just so that I can use some of my precious bottle of Fritessause! YAY!
