Anyone who knows me well knows that my favourite flower is the tulip. Partly because of my dutch background, and partly because they are so darn pretty, especially when they are my favourite colour! Anyway, the weekend before last we went to the park for the kids to have a play and for me to take some photos for designing with. I ended up taking photos just because moreso than for designing with! Who knows I may still create something with the tulips yet tho.

Click on the thumbnails to see the full size version.
I also did this layout of one of the photos, I blended the main photo into the background and softened the edges of the photo. The background is from my For The Blokes kit.

And here another PINK layout shock horror of Jaz…

I am in the process in creating a brush pack at the moment and in between decided to do a layout. These photos of Jasmine were taken the same day as the tulips. You might have noticed the tulips in the bottom left. I created a brush out of one of the photos I took and used it on the layout, I thought it added to the feel of the layout nicely! If I can find enough suitable photos I might make a brush pack out of the flower photos as well.
The wordart is from my Love Me Wordart set, the top left flourish is from the set I am working on at the moment, the background set is from my Ala Pink kit, the daisy from my Fabbo Funky Flowers and the grungy frame is from my For The Blokes kit, I recoloured it from black to white for this layout. I used blend modes a fair bit here, to blend the right photo of Jaz into the background and on most things on this page including the daisy and wordart.
Sigh, my heart just melts when I look at these photos of her.

Misty Cato is one of the fabulous designers at scrapbook-elements.com. She had done a great tutorial on using frames in layouts that is worth checking out.
Check out her blog for her article on using frames and also for many more great tutorials and fun bits and pieces!
I was very flattered to see that she used my recent layout of Kyan as an example of grungy frames.

Well Jasmine had her first Sports ‘Day’ today. She has been freaking out about the race that she had to do. The prep kids were only doing an exhibition run and a bit of a ‘march’ and then returning to their class as it would be too big a day for them.
Jasmine was telling me a couple of weeks ago that she didn’t want to run because she wouldn’t be able to win, because some of her friends are much faster than her. She also seemed to really be stressing about running and we have been explaining to her that all that matters is that she has fun with it and that she gives it a go, she doesn’t have to ‘win’. In the end it eased her mind a lot to know that if she wanted to she could walk or jog if she felt she needed to. She was very relieved when her teacher told her she was allowed to do that if she wanted to.
Well this morning finally the run came and you could tell she looked a little nervous but she did a WONDERFUL job and ran beautifully.. no jogging or walking involved at all. We are both very proud that she tried her best and she did such a wonderful job.
They did the races in groups of four and I think it helped that she was one of the later groups and she got to see a lot of the other kids run. Some of them had to have a teacher help them along the way, but she did just fine without the teachers.
Anyway.. here is a little pic, hopefully I will get a chance to scrap this one soon….

General Scraps
I have joined the Kaboodle craze to keep track of wishes and also a list of my designs.
It took me a while to ‘get’ what was so great about Kaboodle but I am getting the hang of it now and quite like it!
It is a great way to keep track of the things that the kids want/like so that we and family can remember what they might like as gifts.
So anyway, in case anyone in our families are looking for Xmas or Birthday gift Idea’s, check out my Kaboodle lists for ideas. I haven’t started one for Dean yet.. next time he mentions something he wants I will start a list for him as I can never think of ANYTHING to buy him myself let alone anyone else!
I am going to stick a link on my blog links list as well.

I have been busy busy and have done two new kits, as well as a layout! Not sure where I am squeezing in the time but am fitting it in there somehow!
I hadn’t done a masculine themed kit for a while so I thought it was time I did one. I needed more kits to scrap Kyan with!
My latest kit at SBE is - For The Blokes.

I am really loving these colours together, great for both boy and girl layouts!
Here is my latest layout done with this kit. Kyan insisted on waiting at the fence yesterday for Dean to arrive home. He seemed convinced if he only wated at the fence his Daddy would drive right up, it took a bit of convincing that he would still be a while and that he should wait at the window inside! Anyway, he looked so cute waiting there I took a pic before getting him to come inside.

And my latest Wordart Set - Love Me Wordart now also available at SBE

Ok, so at least one part of me is perfect. he he
One of the girls at work was incredulous that I didn’t need glasses especially given that I work on computers all day, and we did a little test to see how my vision compared to hers wearing her contacts. My vision seemed to equal hers at a distance and we stepped closer to an item that had small writing on it and I was JUST able to make out a word, she said she could make it out clearly, so I thought.. hmm maybe I need to get my eyes tested after all! I have never noticed any problems but I hadn’t had them tested in 12 years or so so I thought it was about time I had them tested anyway.
Anyway, I had them tested and according to our optometrist (who happens to be a good friend of Dean’s) I have a rare condition of perfect eyesight! He couldn’t even squeeze a tiny perscription in with both of my eyes being 0. Hopefully I have passed those ‘perfect genes’ onto my kids and not all the less than perfect stuff! He he
