Big Boy, Brave Girl and Update

A couple of week ago, Kyan did something he has never done, after he had his bath and was walking around nudie while we got his jammies ready, did a wee on the carpet. Then he walked over to another part of the house and did it again, and then a third time! He has never ever done this before and I think he just realised that he could control when it happens.

We had had the potty out for a while to get him used to it and he had shown absolutely no interest in using it or the toilet for which we have also had a toddler seat ready for. I am in absolutely no rush to toilet train him as we started Jaz when she started showing interest and it took well over a year to train her.

Anyway, last night Kyan was nudie after his bath and started to wee on the carpet and stopped himself! Jasmine has NEVER had that kind of control! So I asked him if he wanted to do a wee on the potty and he said YES! I was so surprised, so he sat on the potty and did a tiny one and sat right back so he could watch it. ROFL! Anyway lots of cheers and high fives and great excitement over the idea of taking it to the toilet to tip it in. He was SO proud of himself that he decided he wanted to do another one. So he did, same deal again, and then he wanted to do a third one, which was HUGE… same deal again.. and then yes, a FOURTH one! Too funny! All this was happening as the lunar eclipse was starting and Jaz was chomping at the bit to go out so we had to put a stop to it for the time being so we could get them dressed and take them out.

So it will be interesting to see if he is ready to start training yet, I will give him a chance this morning and again tonight and see what he does. If he is keen maybe we will start training on the weekend. Wow, how exciting to not to have to worry about day nappies anymore!! I will give his kindy the heads up today that he may be interested in using the little toilets there now and again.

We also have a very brave girl! Jasmine has been petrified of the dentist ever since she had a filling done when she was three. She had to get 4 more done due to deep grooves in her teeth that you can’t reach with a toothbrush and we had no luck with her as she was so petrified so we had to get it done under GA. Well she had another filling this year that needed doing and the first time Dean had to take her and she was again petrified. Well yesterday we tried again and I was very doubtful we would get anywhere. Anyway we pulled up at the dentist and right on cue she started crying when I told her she had to have her teeth ‘tickled’. She cried and cried until we went in and low and behold the dentist managed to settle her down and made a deal with her that if he was really quick doing the filling, and she let him do it without crying, she could have TWO presents instead of one. (he gives them to the kids when they behave well) Well what do you know it worked and he did it and she got her two presents and she told us that she had forgotten what it was like and that is why she was scared but she had decided it wasn’t so bad after all! PHEW! So the dentist told her she had to remember how easy it was for next time.

I am just SO proud of her for being brave and so was Dean, so Dean went out and bought her an additional prezzie for being so brave. She was in the best mood for the next day or so because of it and took her new Sleeping Beauty Barbie to show and tell and told the kids at school why she got it.

I haven’t been posting much because we have all been sick with the Influenza A virus that hit Australia this winter. It hit me HARD. I have never been so sick in my life. I was in bed for 2 full days straight and off work for a week. Kyan was the first to get it, but thankfully not as bad as I had it. I got it after him, and then Jaz and then Dean.. thankfully they also had a milder dose than me. I suspect mine was that bad because of the Coeliacs as it lowers your immunity. I had a flu shot the same day and got the flu that night! I had already had a sore throat but I made the docs appointment for the shot so I got it anyway. Next year I think I will get it before the flu season starts since I am at greater risk of getting the flu due to the coeliacs.

Anyway, I had best be going, I have to get ready for work, but I wanted to post an update while I have the chance!
