Fevers and Torn Ligament

Posted by clikchic on Jun 7, 2007 in Family Scraps |

I went to the doc earlier in the week to get checked up because I have been getting daily low grade fevers. I have been having them for at least 4wks now. I was getting them prior to that but probably not as consistently. At first I thought it might have been related to when I have had gluten, but I eliminated everything I thought could possibly have gluten from my diet and I was still getting the fevers. So I got some blood tests to check my thyroid and my thyroid function was normal.

My doc is now checking with a specialist to find out if you can get fevers with Coeliac’s even when you are not ingesting gluten. So for now, no answer on the cause of my fevers.. hopefully the specialist can shed some light.

I also got my ankle checked because I twisted it about 2mths ago and I have still been having problems with swelling and some mild pain. I am also prone to twisting it more easily as well. Anyway, I had an X-Ray and it seems I have torn a ligament!

I now have a referral to see a surgeon to find out whether or not I need surgery! Doh! I will keep you posted on what the surgeon has to say. Apparently physio doesn’t normally do much and if the surgeon does think it is ok to let it heal on it’s own, it will probably take a fair while.  Bugger…

With my blood test I also had my iron levels tested and it seems I am anemic again! Sigh… I guess at least I know why I have been tired again lately.  I have been told I need to take more iron suppliments and that I will probaby need to take them the rest of my life.

So I will start taking even more iron, fingers crossed it does the trick. I have finally found a multivitamin that is gluten free as well so I have started taking that as well.
