Quote of the day..

Posted by clikchic on Jun 20, 2006 in Family Scraps

Recorded for prosterity a quote from Jasmine after watching a segment on playschool about turtles…

“Did you know turtles lay eggs, that’s a bit tricky, you have to squeeze your bottom and eggs come out. ”

Must remember to scrap that one!!!

Sad Face - Appeal for Mail!

SadJaz190606.jpg

Jasmine has been getting very sad lately because she has not been getting any mail.. can you tell by the woeful expression on her face on the photo?? Too funny!

We get mail most days as you do, usually bills and junk, but sometimes parcels as well since I often buy stuff for the family on ebay or online stores. (much easier than dragging the kids out shopping) Anyway, despite the fact that I get stuff for her as well… she seems to have conveniently forgotten the Shortcake Stickers for her new bedroom walls… she is always dissappointed when there is no mail for her. Today she tells me it is always mail for me… well I guess since I am the one that pays the bills it usually is! Anyway, I told her to look sad for a photo because she wasn’t getting any mail and this was the result! ROFL!

So to those friends and family who have the time to do so, please put the poor girl out of her misery! The poor thing has been soo neglected!

Kyan soo looks up to his big sister, he loves to copy everything she does. Yesterday Jaz was playing with her shopping trolly so he got out his walker and copied her with it. He loves to try and dance the same way she does, and basically anything she does he likes to do too.

The other day she was doing some drawing and he decided he wanted to do some too. We normally keep him well away from the felt pens as he likes to draw on walls, cupboards, you name it.. it is a real challenge keeping that stuff away from him when little Miss 4 needs constant reminding to put them away and keep them out of his reach. Anyway, I thought I would share a pic of the two of them drawing together. I thought it was cute.

Rat(bag) in a Hat & General Update

NudieKyaninJazsHat130606.jpg

How cheeky is this boy! He was just out of the bath and he grabs his sisters hat from the washing basket and goes for a run. Not the best taken shot, but it is hard taking pics with a toddler running straight at you! That is my excuse and I am sticking too it. I have played a little in photoshop to sharpen it a bit etc so it looks a bit better now than it did.

Poor little man has a strange rash on his belly. As far as I can figure it is from something he had in contact with. Considering he has been wearing singlets apart from when he is in the bath the only thing I can think of is that this particular singlet which was amongst some clothes that I had put away from last winter, came into contact with something that didn’t agree with Kyan. It is clearing up now thank goodness. It was pretty nasty on the first day so I washed the singlet so hopefully it won’t re-appear. It stops right at his nappy line.

He is now officially weaned! I am kinda sad but it has been soooo good to be able to have dairy again. I have been really naughty and enjoying a few treats I haven’t been able to have for a while but I am going to have to  start concentrating on weightloss in the not to distant future.

I have been trying to think of things I can do in our new pool when we move to help my weightloss efforts apart from lap swimming which I am not too keen on. So far I have thought of aqua aerobics but doing it on my own doesn’t really appeal to me. Will have to find a way to make it interesting.

Jaz can now swim the width of the pool at swimming lessons on her own, well she has been doing so for a while in fact, but it is only this week where she has the confidence to say she can do it and is excited by that fact. I spoke to her swimming instructor who at first wanted to keep her in level 2 another term to strengthen her swimming but when I told her we were moving to the coast at the end of the year where we would have our own pool she said to put her into level 3 to get her started on her breathing etc. At the moment she has to dog paddle to get a breath so it will be good for her to have two terms of more advanced swimming before we move.

I have been insanely busy the past week or so.. I just can’t seem to get much done on days where we have an outing. I had something on every day last week and some days several things on. Then Mum came for the long weekend (while Dad played Bridge in Cairns) which was lovely. It gave us a chance to go to the movies which as great!  I also took Jaz to see Cars on Monday with some cheap tickets we got through her kindy.

Jaz had a nasty virus last week. I had to pick her up from kindy early which is highly unusual. You know she is sick when she wants to come home from kindy!

Jaz is gradually getting used to the idea of moving to the coast. She is loving the idea of having a NEW strawberry shortcake room and being close to Oma and Opa and having all her toys there etc. She asked if were taking our dog as she would be lonely otherwise. I told her of course we would. I am hoping that her hips might not be as bad in the warmer climate. Hopefully the hill the yard is on won’t cause her too much grief.

She is still upset at the idea of not going to the same school as her friends but I told her we may be able to get them to come and visit. The Mother of one of her friends, goes to the coast on a regular basis and said she may visit, so I hope I can get them to come. I haven’t had a chance to speak to the Mum of her friends (twins) from kindy.  I am hoping they go to the coast now and again on holidays, or that they might be willing to come and stay for a weekend at some stage.

I feel fairly confident that once she starts making friends at her new school she will adjust ok, but until then I hope I can keep her happy with the idea of some of her friends visiting.. and hopefully they will!

Ok, enough rambling, I am falling so far behind on things, I need to get some stuff done for a change!

Butterflies, Butterflies…

Posted by clikchic on Jun 14, 2006 in Family Scraps

Jasmine is right into drawing butterflies at the moment. Apparently she is the only one at Pre-Prep (better not say kindy or I will be corrected by Jaz! LOL) that draws them and she draws LOTS of them.. and paints them… she LOVES butterflies always has, but since learning to draw them, they are everywhere! ;-)

This one is one she painted at Pre-Prep. I love the cupcakes for eyes and the bits of string and streamer! So cute!

MegasketchButterfly120606.jpg

This one obviously was done on her megasketcher.. she has taken lately to drawing fairies and hearts on them. She has been practising and practising her hearts trying to get them just right.

This one she painted last week, she loves cutting out her artwork which is what she did here using Mummies big scissors! She is now allowed to use them as long as she puts them straight back where they belong…so that Kyan can’t get them.

I love this one, she did it for her friend’s Mum which I thought was sweet. I said I want to scan that one onto the computer first before you give it away! Her friend wasn’t at swimming which worked out well since we forgot the drawing anyway! Don’t you love her name at the top and the lovely flowers and hearts and of course the fairy down the bottom. Yes, she is still writing her name nearly entirely backwards, but she now knows it is backwards and occasionally tries to do it the right way. When she does it backwards she tells me it is still her name. LOL Of course it is! :-)

Sad Day

Posted by clikchic on Jun 3, 2006 in Family Scraps
Babie and Zoro Email Pic.JPG

It is a sad day today at our house. Our little fox terrier named Zorro, is very ill. Dean found him in the backyard this morning, shivering, and unresponsive. He rushed him to the vet, and the vet thinks he had a heart attack or stroke overnight. As I type this, Dean is at the vet with him and having him put down.

I was so unprepared for this, he is such a tough little dog. Our Border collie, Babie, is an older dog with dodgy hips, deaf and failing eyesight. I have been preparing myself for the time in the not too distant future that we would have to put her down. I never expected that we would loose Zorro first.

Poor Jaz has been dealing with the grief of loosing her baby brother Jacob lately even tho she was too young at the time to understand. She has been talking about him lot lately and really missing him, so now she will have to go through it all about Zorro as well which will dredge up the grief about Jacob as well no doubt. She has been a bit sad this morning after I explained to her why Zorro isn’t coming back. It is so hard to know what to say to a 4yr old about death. I will have to re-read the book that her kindy lent me to help her deal with loosing Jacob.
